About

The house in which Kai-Oms is situated was built way back in the day in 1943. It was initially used as horse stables, horse shoe repair and also once upon a time as a car repair shop. This was then transformed into an Inn and an auction house, school and hostel later, Kai-Oms backpackers was born.

Kai-Oms can roughly be translated to "Big House". Kai-Oms backpackers offers accommodation to weary travelers in the form of twin rooms, double rooms, family rooms with their own en-suite bathrooms, dormitory that can accommodate up to nine people and campsites.

There is also a curio shop where guests can pick up little souvenirs as mementos of their trip.

Attractions include the world famous Etosha National Park which is about 90km from Outjo, Twyfelfontein, the Petrified Forest, the Vingerklip also known as the "rock finger", the traditional Himba village which is 80km towards Kamanjab and also dinosaur tracks.
