B2Gold Namibia (Pty) Ltd. is a 90% owned subsidiary of B2Gold Corp. B2Gold Namibia’s portfolio includes the Otjikoto Mine in north central Namibia as well as extensive base metal concessions in northern Namibia. Otjikoto’s construction was completed in 2014, and the first gold poured in December 2014 - with 2015 being its first full year of production.


SAFETY SUPERINTENDENT

General Scope of Duty

The Safety Superintendent is responsible for implementing and maintaining an effective
Health & Safety management system at B2Gold Namibia.

Location and reporting structure

This position will be based at the Otjikoto Gold Mine and will report directly to the Safety
& Security Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:
OHS Effectiveness

• Assist in directing resources and activities of the department to support OHSE programs
• Review and update internal HS policies and practices to ensure it relates to and is on
par with recent technology and practices
• Conduct hazard and risks assessments and amend existing, or develop new
recommendations from these assessments
• Monitor and report compliance and non-compliance to applicable standards, laws and
regulations
• Assist with the investigation of all incidents and ensure that proper records are completed
and submitted
• Assist in implementing corrective actions related to an incident and ensure that “lesson
learned” is communicated and incorporated into the program throughout the organization
• Supervise and coordinate training programs which will increase proficiency in safety
practices and promote OHS awareness
• Ensure all regulatory monitoring and reporting are completed on time and within the
allocated budget
• Update and provide regular written reports to the Security and Safety Manager

Subordinate Effectiveness

• Mentor and develop subordinates in accordance with succession plans and talent
management principles
• Conduct regular reviews on outputs achieved
• Document annual agreed performance targets linked towards the business strategy
• Enforce discipline and accountability within the team
Mine Safety, Health and Environmental Effectiveness
• Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
• Manage and monitor adherence to Safety, Health and Environmental program goals and
objectives
• Ensure that work is done safely and in accordance with the company procedures
• Ensure housekeeping is maintained at all times.

Competencies and Requirements

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree or NQF Level 7
• 10 Years’ appropriate working experience in the mining industry with a minimum of 5
years on OHS managerial level
• Advance knowledge of mining industry practices, regulatory requirements and industry
standards
• Computer literacy
• Code 8 driver’s license


SAFETY OFFICER

General Scope of Duty

The Safety Officer is responsible for assisting the Safety Superintendent to develop,
implement, monitor and improve the SHE Management System and implement programs
to remove hazards from the workplace and to rectify work practices.

Location and reporting structure

This position will be based at the Otjikoto Gold Mine and will report directly to the Safety
Superintendent.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Policies and Regulations

• Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance to local and international legal requirements

SHE Management System
• Assist the Safety Superintendent with the development and implementation of the SHE
Management System
• Assist the Safety Superintendent to develop, implement and promote OHS and training
systems, policies & procedures
• Update OHS notice boards with relevant SHE data
• Assist to updating safety statistics

Accident/Incident Investigation

• Report and inform the Safety Superintendent of all accidents, incidents and safety related
emergencies
• Participate in the conduct of accident/incident investigation
Training and Development
• Assist the Safety Superintendent with internal and external OHS training
• Facilitate and conduct training sessions when required
• Conduct site and area specific inductions as required

Emergency Preparedness
• Assist the ERT Coordinator to maintain and update the emergency preparedness,
response and recovery programs
• Provide logistics support to the Emergency Response Team
• Assist with the conduct of emergency drills

Departmental Management

• Assist to prepare internal and external OHS Reports
• Ensure that the quality of work meets set standards
• Ensure agreed targets are achieved
• Apply sound time management principles
• Continuously strive to achieve company goals
• Identify and eliminate wasteful practices
• Perform other tasks and related work assigned

Competencies and Requirements

• Grade 12 with at least 4 years’ experience within the SHE Discipline
• Preferably 4 years’ working experience in the mining industry
• A Safety Diploma will be an advantage
• Relevant safety qualification, e.g. SAMTRAC or Safety Officers Course
• Valid code 08 (BE) driver’s licence
