B2Gold Namibia’s portfolio includes the Otjikoto Mine in north central Namibia as well as extensive base metal concessions in northern Namibia. Otjikoto’s construction was completed in 2014, and the first gold poured in December 2014 - with 2015 being its first full year of production.


AUXILIARY FOREMAN

General Scope of Duty

The purpose of the Auxiliary Foreman is to assist the Heavy Mining Equipment (HME)
Maintenance Manager to optimize the reliability of Auxiliary Equipment, Light Duty vehicles
and workshops infrastructure
.
Location and reporting structure
This position will be based at the Otjikoto Mine and will report directly to the HME Maintenance
Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Planning of maintenance and work control
• Ensure availability of auxiliary equipment spares and parts
• Ensure availability and good condition of tools and equipment
• Ensure planned maintenance and repairs are performed efficiently and according to the required standard
• Ensure works orders/job cards are completed and returned to the planning office daily
• Provide technical advice and assistance when required
• Conduct planned safety inspections and task observations
• Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
• Ensure roadworthiness of all Otjikoto mine auxiliary equipment and vehicles
• Manage auxiliary equipment stakeholders and provide feedback
• Ensure licensing and registration of all vehicles traveling on National roads
• Manage subordinates and work with the team effectively
• Manage budget & cost control

Competencies and Requirements

• Grade 12 with a Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate or equivalent
• A minimum of 5 years practical experience as a qualified Diesel Mechanic
• Have good mechanical, auto electrical and air conditioning troubleshooting skills
• Showcase supervisory and leadership experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer Literate
• Code BE driver’s license


EARTHMOVING DIESEL MECHANIC

General Scope of Duty

The purpose of the Earthmoving Diesel Mechanic is to assist the Heavy Mobile Equipment
(HME) Workshop Maintenance Foreman in providing a service to the Mining Manager. The
position must also optimize production, execute mechanical repairs and servicing of Heavy
Mobile Equipment to the required standards.

Location and reporting structure

This position will be based at the Otjikoto Mine and will report directly to the HME Workshop
Maintenance Foreman.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure daily inspections are performed to the required standard
• Perform scheduled planning, services, repairs and component replacements and/or overhauls
• Ensure availability, reliability, control and good condition of tools and equipment at all times
• Perform fault findings and repairs
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of daily job cards
• Ensure correct service information are provided for maintenance records
• Ensure efficient and safe response to maintenance repairs
• Complete safety related tasks
• Ensure Tag out/Lockout procedure is applied
• Identify and communicate possible hazards and risks
• Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures

Competencies and Requirements

• Diesel or Earthmoving Mechanic Trade Certificate
• Grade 12 with 4 technical subjects or N3 technical
• 3-5 years post trade test working experience in an open pit mining environment
• Extensive experience working on earthmoving equipment
• Have excellent mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Code BE driver’s license

HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT FOREMAN

General Scope of Duty

The purpose of the HME Foreman is to assist the HME Maintenance Manager with technical
support services and infrastructure in order to achieve the optimal availability; and to
optimize the reliability and efficiency of the HME assets.
Location and reporting structure
This position will be based at the Otjikoto Mine and will report directly to the HME Maintenance
Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensure daily inspections are performed to standard
• Ensure scheduled maintenance is done on time with good workmanship scheduled
• Compile Safe Work Procedures and enforce the use of such SWP
• Conduct over inspections and take the necessary action regarding training needs or poor workmanship
• Identify and manage the workshop spares level
• Coordinate outside technical support and OEM tender interaction
• Ensure correct staffing and maintain strength within the approved staff complement
• Compile and control the HME workshop operational budget
• Analyse HME workshop performance and identify optimisation potential
• Diagnose and trouble shoot HME failures and compile post mortems with recommended actions to prevent reoccurrences
• Ensure frequent testing of all HME brake system and ensure planning and scheduling of any HME breakdowns and planned maintenance
• Perform assignments within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and accepted standard practices
• Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures

Competencies and Requirements

• Trade Certificate with N3 practical and theoretical or Trade Certificate with Grade 12
and 4 technical subjects
• A minimum of 5 years practical experience as a qualified diesel mechanic
• Have good mechanical, auto electrical and air conditioning troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of Maintenance Management system will be an advantage
• Knowledge of Electrical and Hydraulic Schematics
• Showcase supervisory and leadership experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer Literate
• Code BE driver’s license



HME REBUILD MECHANIC
General Scope of Duty

The Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) Rebuild Mechanic is responsible for safe and efficient
equipment rebuilds and major component change-outs on the primary mining production
and support equipment fleets.

Location and reporting structure

This position will be based at the Otjikoto Mine and will report directly to the HME Foreman.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure that the HME objectives are met safely and efficiently
• Attend to Rebuilds effectively and efficiently
• Provide technical advice and assistance to HME sections in setting up work scopes and
bar charts
• Ensure artisan personal tools are available and in good condition
• Ensure all tools and equipment used during rebuild are cleaned and returned to the tool
store by the end of each project
• Ensure safety inspections are completed and deviations rectified
• Conduct planned task observations
• Ensure the recording of any consumables, spares and equipment used during a rebuild
• Ensure work orders or job cards are completed and returned to the planning office daily
• Communicate effectively with team members
• Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
Competencies and Requirements
• Diesel or Earthmoving Mechanic Trade Certificate
• Grade 12 with 4 technical subjects or N3 technical
• A minimum of 5 - 10 years’ work experience in Heavy Mining Equipment maintenance
• CUMMINS diagnostic certification will be an advantage
• Knowledge of equipment and performance expectations in relation to various LIEBHERR
and CATERPILLAR Heavy Equipment Rebuilds
• Knowledge of rebuild, maintenance and repair procedures relating to LIEBHERR and
CATERPILLAR Heavy Mining Equipment
• Knowledge and experience of CAT Supporting systems (SIS, ET, VIMS)
• Knowledge of tooling for rebuild maintenance and repairs
• Knowledge in rebuilding Differentials, final drives, PDG’s and wheel groups
• Ability to read and understand equipment manuals with excellent comprehension of
hydraulics schematics
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Code BE driver’s license
