The Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) was established in terms of the Standards Act, 2005 (Act No.
18 of 2005). The primary role of the NSI is to promote Standardisation and Quality Assurance in industry,
commerce and the public sector in Namibia, with the aim of improving product quality, industrial efficiency
and productivity, and to promote trade, so as to achieve optimum benefits for Namibia.

The following vacancy exists in the NSI

Quality Assurance Officer: Certification - Windhoek

Job Grading: Paterson D
1

Primary purpose of position:

To ensure that the NSI Certification Body has
implemented an effective and sufficient quality
management system conforming to the requirements
of ISO/IEC 17021,ISO/IEC 17065, ISO/IEC 17024 in
order to obtain and maintain accreditation.

Educational requirement:

BSc degree in Natural Science or equivalent relevant
qualification.
NQF 7

Experience requirement:

3 years’ experience in the quality assurance field, as
well as in conformity assessment services.
Registration as a Quality Management System (QMS)
or Food Safety Management System (FSMS) auditor
will be an added advantage.

Skills & knowledge requirement:

Knowledge of the certification management system
standards requirements, e.g. ISO 9001 / ISO 22000,
FSSC 22000.
Knowledge in execution of audits, e.g. 1st party, 2nd
party or 3rd party.
Report writing skills
Analytical skills

Key Performance Area

Implement and maintain the Quality Management
System.
Coordination and execution of internal audits as per
the audit programme.
Preparing Management Review Meeting Schedule and
conducting Management Review Meetings.
Coordinate the functions of the certification
committees, e.g. Impartiality Committee, Certification
Approvals Committee.
Monitor and evaluate certification processes, in
preparation for accreditation.
Plan and conduct inspections of products for
certification, and management system audits when
necessary.
