Quality Assurance Officer - Otavi

the following position at Namib Mills (Pty) Ltd.
The position is located in Otavi.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Maintain, monitor and the verification of the
Quality Management Systems, ISO and Food
Safety Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)
Program, at the Otavi Plant including the Depot
Chicken Program.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PLANNING, IMPLEMENTING OF
IMPROVEMENTS:

• Maintain, monitor and the verification of the
ISO and GFSI (Food Safety) Programs at the
Otavi Site.
• The planning of external audits, including
the Chicken Depot, for the Customer Audits
(Shoprite).
• Maintain and review the GFSI Program and
HACCP Studies.
• Ensure staff are sufficiently trained and
informed of the ISO System documentation.
• Ensure staff are sufficiently trained and
informed in the requirements of the GFSI
Food Safety System.
• Monitor and report on the Quality Assurance
activities in the Operational Departments.

INTERNAL AUDIT:

• Review and ensure compliance to the Quality
/ Food Safety Management Year Plan.
• Conduct scheduled and non-scheduled audits
on the Food Safety and ISO Systems.
• Compile and distribution of the audit reports.
• Captures leave applications on system.
• Liaising and monitoring of corrective actions
and reporting the results to the Otavi Plant
Manager.

ADMININSTRATION:
• Perform inspections according to the GFSI /
Hygiene / Chicken Depot Checklists.
• Record Corrective Action Reports on Share
Point for External, Internal and Customer
Audits.
• Review and report results on the Pest Control
program to the Senior Technical Controller
monthly.
• Review and ensure compliance to the annual
Otavi Calibration list.
• Follow up on incidents and timeously report
the results to the Senior Technical Controller.
• Ensure timeous distribution of quality system
documentation.

ATTEND TO CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS:
• To ensure the customer complaints are
actioned.
• Review and assist, where required on the
corrective actions and provide timeous
feedback to the Otavi Plant Manager.

GENERAL:

• Performs ad hoc tasks, projects or quality
issues; as requested by the Otavi Plant
Manager / Windhoek Quality Assurance
Department.
• Liaise and assist the Otavi Plant Manager on
the Otavi Equipment Calibration List.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS
POSITION

• Relevant Diploma (NQF 6) with one (1) year
relevant experience.
• Knowledge and experience of HACCP and
ISO is a pre-requisite.
OR
• Relevant certificate (NQF 5) with two (2) years
relevant experience.
• Knowledge and experience of HACCP and
ISO is a pre-requisite.
OR
• Grade 12 (NQF 4) with Maths and Science
with five (5) years relevant experience.
• Knowledge and experience of HACCP and
ISO is a pre-requisite.
OTHER
• Namibian citizen.
• Computer literacy with working knowledge in
Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
• Proficient in both English and Afrikaans.
