B2Gold Namibia (Pty) Ltd. Is a 90% owned subsidiary of B2Gold Corp. B2Gold Namibia’s
portfolio includes the Otjikoto Mine in north central Namibia as well as extensive base metal
concessions in northern Namibia. Otjikoto’s construction was completed in 2014, and the first
gold poured in December 2014 with 2015 being its first full year of production.

SENIOR SAFETY TRAINING OFFICER

General Scope of Duty
The Senior Safety Training Officer is responsible for coordinating all safety related training and to
assist workplace safety officers and representatives to perform functions and duties required to
observe the application of statutory regulations and provisions of B2Golds’s Health, Safety and
Environmental procedures and standards.

Location and reporting structure
This position will be based at the Otjikoto Mine and will report directly to the Safety Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities
Training, Awareness and Education
• Plan and co-ordinate the safety training program to ensure effective safety training for all B2Gold
Namibia operations
• Identify and analyse HSE training needs across the business unit
• Source, compile and update training matrices and materials and ensure commitment and
adherence from all stakeholders
• Ensure continuous improvement with regards to training material and equipment and initiate
upgrades to ensure quality and legal compliance
• Research, identify and evaluate training service providers
• Assist in maintaining and improving health, safety and environmental standards and practices
• Monitor the effectiveness of the health and safety awareness training program in the areas of
responsibility and make recommendations to Head of Departments and Section Heads where
required
• Ensure that all trainees are assessed in terms of their competency levels prior to and after training
where possible
• Ensure that external training providers have updated materials and ensure the quality of training
and accuracy of information provided
• Moderate the training of assessors and facilitate training of instructors on new courses that have
been developed
• Consult with Safety Manager and Environmental Manager regarding the HSE systems and
determine needs to initiate new projects
• Liaise with the Safety Manager to update material and stay abreast of changes
• Support the line management to ensure that HSE-related transgressions are addressed through
appropriate training

Administrative duties
• Produce monthly training statistics
• Assist with the investigation of accidents and high potential incidents at the Mine
• Be accountable for the C-Safe system for the Safety department
• Co-ordinate and participate in the departmental safety meetings
• Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
Competencies and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree/ National Diploma in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental
Management with at least 5-7 years’ experience in the HSE Discipline
• Appropriate Training Certificate/Diploma or equivalent with at least 3-5 years’ training experience
• Sound knowledge in OHSAS 18001 and or ISO 14001 Management Systems
• Code CE driver’s license
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
