VACANCY REFRIGERATION SPECIALIST: AMMONIA PLANT

Namib Poultry Industries (Pty) Ltd is a fully integrated broiler production operation
established in 2012 and situated 30 km north of Windhoek on the B1 highway on the
farm Klein Okapuka.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Supervising and control of operational maintenance processes and technical staff
according to pre-determined work procedures and standards within a high-speed
food manufacturing facility.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ammonia Handling
Intake and Storage of Ammonia in accordance with Safe Handling Practices
• Maintenance and Upkeep of Refrigeration Plant
Accumulators/Receivers/Valves/Valve Stations/Pumps/Compressors [High & Low
Stage]
• Servicing of Refrigeration Equipment
Complete/sign-off Daily Pre-Operational Equipment Check Sheets; drain oil pods
of receivers
clean Purger; Clean and Lubricate cooling towers
• Equipment Installation
New and/or replacement equipment, pumps, supply & suction valves etc.
• Training and Mentoring
• Practical on-the-job training of subordinate personnel in preparation for
certification as Refrigeration Assistant and/or Refrigeration Technician
• Supplier Contact and Liaison
Maintain business relationship with all equipment manufacturers and suppliers;
Annual servicing of equipment to manufacturers specifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
• Grade 12 (NQF 4)
• Trade Tested Artisan (N3 Mechanical discipline preferred)
• Certification as Ammonia Refrigeration Technician (compulsory)
• Ammonia Handling Certificate (compulsory)
• Valid Forklift License
• Valid BE Driving License
• Minimum of 10 (ten) years’ relevant experience in Ammonia Refrigeration
Installation and Maintenance within a FMCG food manufacturing environment
• Proficient in English and Afrikaans (3rd language advantageous)
Namibian citizen OR eligible to become a Namibian citizen
• Must be willing to work overtime, night shift, weekends and on Public Holidays




PRODUCTION MANAGER: SECONDARY DEPARTMENTS

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Fully accountable for the Secondary Production Departments (Product Portioning
and Packing) within a high-throughput A-Grade poultry processing facility.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Co-ordinate daily Production and Order Processing functions
• Monitor and adjust planned Production Schedules to suit requirements
• Allocate staff and equipment resources required by different processes
• Maintain production efficiencies and outputs vs. standards and targets
• Enforce strict adherence to and compliance with all product specifications
• Adhere to in-house TQM System standards, including all relevant documentation
• Maintain required Housekeeping Standards in all areas of responsibility
• Maintain required Food Safety Standards and Practises in accordance with
relevant audit criteria
• Enforce adherence to and compliance with relevant SHE Policies and
Procedures
• Maintain sound shop-floor discipline in accordance with Disciplinary Code and
Procedures
• Performance Management of Line Supervisors and subordinate staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

• Grade 12 (NQF 4)
• Poultry Meat Examiners and/or Inspector Certificate
• Recognized Food Safety training course completed (HACCP/ISO/FSSC
preferred)
• Recognised Production Management Certificate highly advantageous
• MRP and ERP systems applications highly advantageous
• Fully computer literate (Office/Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
• A minimum of 5 years Line or Middle Management experience in a highthroughput
A-Grade poultry processing environment is required, alternatively 10
years similar experience in any other FMCG food processing and manufacturing
environment may be considered (fish / dairy / red meat)
• Valid Code BE driver’s license
• Proficient in English and Afrikaans (3rd language will be beneficial)
• Namibian Citizen OR eligible to become a Namibian Citizen.
• Must be willing to work overtime, night shift, on weekends Public Holiday.
