TRAINEE BOSUN
The trainee Bosun programme will be for a period of 24 months at sea, and consists of theoretical modules and on-the-job experiential training to achieve the Able Seafarer qualification. During the period offshore the Trainee will complete ancillary safety and technical training.
JOB DEVELOPMENT AREAS: The trainee will receive training on Performing helmsman, mooring, berthing and flight deck duties, preparing and launching lifeboats, operating cranes and lifting gear, maintaining and cleaning on the ship, securing the vessel for sea, assist on mining system, checking and operating assigned equipment, housekeeping, supervising efficient maintenance and operation of the Deck Department, recording of data, reporting, compiling duty rosters, coning mooring wires, checking anchors, supervising safety.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 with a pass mark in English, Mathematics and Science with at least 5 years' supervisory experience, excellent communication skills, ability to manage people, problem solving and planning skills. In order to be successful in this programme, the incumbent would require self-drive and commitment to his/her own learning. Candidates with seagoing experience are encouraged to apply.
TRAINEE CRAWLER PILOT The Trainee Crawler Pilot programme will be for a period of 24 months at sea, and consists of theoretical modules and on-the-job experiential training. During the period offshore the trainee will complete ancillary safety and technical training.

JOB DEVELOPMENT AREAS: The trainee will receive training on crawler mining operations and maintenance, monitoring the progress of the ore extraction and adjustments of mining parameters to suit sea-bed conditions and safe operation. The trainee will learn to capture relevant mining operations data and be required to undertake repairs and services of the crawler at regular intervals and requires a good technical background to understand the various complex systems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 plus a National Vocational Diploma for Fitter and Turner, Instrumentation and or Electrician with 1 year post-trade experience. The successful candidate should have excellent coordination, observation, fault finding, communication and concentration abilities, computer literacy, and should be able to work in a team.
TRAINEE CONTROL & INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN The Trainee Control & Instrumentation Technician programme will be for a period of 24 months at sea and consist of theoretical modules and on-the-job experiential training. During the period offshore the trainee will complete ancillary safety and technical training.
JOB DEVELOPMENT AREAS: The trainee will receive intensive training on the mining process instrumentation and control systems and will learn to plan and prioritize work and planned maintenance tasks, analyse equipment, diagnose faults, determine and implement remedial action, enhance efficiencies, inspect, maintain, install, commission and calibrate equipment and maintain documentation and back-ups.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: National Diploma in Electronic Engineering/Electrical Engineering (Light current/Process Instrumentation) or Grade 12 plus a National Vocational Diploma in Instrumentation. The successful candidate should have excellent coordination abilities, observation, fault finding and communication skills, be innovative and computer literate, should be energetic, self-driven and able to work in a team.
TRAINEE SEA BED TOOL PILOT The Trainee Sea Bed Tool Pilot programme will be for a period of 24 months at sea, and consists of theoretical modules and on - the - job experiential training. During the period offshore the Trainee will complete ancillary safety and technical training.
JOB DEVELOPMENT AREAS: The trainee will receive training on how to operate the seabed tool during sampling operations and maintain the mission equipment (seabed tool and launch & recovery system) to deliver optimum availability and utilisation of equipment, whilst ensuring sample integrity. This includes optimising the operations of the sampling tool and safe operation, monitoring the progress of the sample extraction and adjusts parameters to suit seabed conditions, capturing relevant sampling data and equipment service and maintenance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 plus a National Vocational Diploma in Fitter and Turner, Instrumentation, Millwright, Diesel Mechanic or Electrical. The successful candidate should have excellent coordination, observation, communication and concentration abilities, computer literacy, and should be able to work in a team.
Successful candidates will be required to work 12 hours per day offshore on-board the company's mining vessels for 28 days at sea followed by 28 days off vessel. Applicants must be Namibian citizens and preference will be given to designated persons as prescribed by the Namibian Affirmative Action Act.
