PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To co-ordinate and control the installation, repair and
maintenance of electrical and electronic systems and
equipment in the Electrical section of the Company, to
ensure availability, reliability and optimum utilization of
such facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
• Trade diploma in Electrical Engineering
• Five years’ experience in electrical installation, repair
and maintenance environment at Technical Supervisor
level
• Working knowledge and understanding of electrical
repairs and maintenance work, modification and
upgrading of electrical installations
• Possesses sound skills on short and medium planning,
organizing, good communication, leadership and
modification
• Analytical skills
• Self-starting initiative, creative, goal directed,
emotional maturity, consistent and flexible
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Resource management
• Coordination and control of repair and maintenance
• Coordination and control of systems and equipment
installation

DIESEL ELECTRICAL FITTER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To perform electrical and mechanical work during the
overhauling, repair and maintenance of locomotives
components and equipment and to execute emergency
services during train derailments and breakdowns.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
• Grade 12 with Mathematics plus four years diesel
electrical trade apprenticeship diploma
• Driver’s license
• Completion of four years’ diesel-electrical
apprenticeship
• Working knowledge and understanding of the
repair and maintenance of locomotive engines and
components
• Understanding of safety and good housekeeping
• Diagnostics and troubleshooting skills,
• Ability to repair and maintain locomotives
components
• Ability to adjust to new technology
• Ability to work irregular hours
• Must be physically fit
• Self-starting initiative, creativity, independence, time
management and technical orientated
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Repairs and maintenance of locomotives
• Repair of damaged and breakdown locomotives
• Execution of emergency services in respect of train
derailments
• Safety and good housekeeping
ELECTRICIAN

• Completion of three years’ electrical apprenticeship
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical
installation and maintenance.

• Possesses sound skills on diagnostic and trouble
shooting, technical specialist, good communication
and interpersonal
• Ability to work irregular hours
• Self-starting initiative, creativity, consistency,
independence and time management
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Electrical system installation
• Repair and maintenance of electrical systems and
equipment
• Electrical technical support
