To Sandwich Harbour - which includes a short trip through the Namib Desert dunes, sliding down breathtaking 34 degrees slip faces. Rolling through the Kuiseb Delta. Sandwich Harbour is a natural bay which is part of the Namib Naukluft Park. Here our desert dunes meet directly with the sea. This area can be accessed either by car or on foot - depending on the low and high tides. We also take you to a special spot on top of the dunes, where you will be able to have a great view of Sandwich Harbour. During the 1880s this area was occasionally used by sailing vessels as an anchorage, and there were some temporary settlements used by seasonal fishermen catching Pike. In the 1930s a project was started to build a guano island in the lagoon using sand pumps imported from the Netherlands. Unfortunately jackals could cross to the island at low tides and chased the birds away. All that remains of the project is the ruins of the manager's house.
To the Namib Naukluft Park - we travel over gravel plains, through mountainous terrains, rock arches, visiting the Moon Landscape and the age old Welwitschia Mirabilis. We take you back millions of years to when these areas in nature were formed. It is part of the Namib Desert which is considered the world's oldest desert. A surprising collection of creatures adapted to the hyper-arid region, including snakes, geckos, unusual insects, hyenas, jackals, springbok, ostrich, zebra and oryx.
To the ever growing Walvis Bay peninsula - This covers the Lagoon area, the Lighthouse with its Seal colonies, passing the Walvis bay Salt works with it's bird life as well as a drive through the Kuiseb Delta.
