Duesternbrook Safari Guest Farm is situated about 50 km north-west of Windhoek and is en-route to Etosha National Park and the coastal town of Swakopmund. It is set on a high river bank overlooking breathtaking scenery. The guestfarm is set on a 14 000 acre farm that has been in the Vaatz famiy since about 1942.
Accommodation at the guestfarm includes double rooms which all have en-suite bathrooms and some have mosquito nets. Some of the double rooms have double beds and others have twin beds. All rooms have solar heated showers and the Felsenhaus has two luxurious rooms which both have a private terrace. Two rooms in the Kolonialhaus ( no 5 and no 6) are ideal for families as they have extra beds in a seperate room. One family unit has 3 beds and the unit has 4 beds and two bathrooms, one bath room has also a bath tube.
The single room ( no 4) is perfect for an individual traveller but as it has a queensize bed t can also be used as a dbl room.
A new and even more dbl luxurious room than Felsenhouse with its own fire place, and a kitchenette, sitting corner is nearly finished (7.5.2014). It will be ready about from beginning of july 2014 onwards.
There are two large stand-up luxury tents which are set about 30m apart. They have a fixed wall and an en-suite bathroom built out of natural stone and a private terrace, war water and electricity.
The Hippo chalet ( 3 km from the farm house) is a rustic cabin set on the banks of Andreasdam. It is remote ( 3 km from the farmhouse), in the middle of nature. You can do self catering or enjoy our meals at the farmhouse. It is not luxurious, about 5x6 meters, but it has an en-suite bathroom and a double bed, for kids a safari stretcher can be put up. There is bedding and towels supplied. It has a little veranda which overlooks a water hole. Behind the chalet is a big dam with many water birds and our 4 Hippo.If you like pure nature this is the place to go.
Activities on the safari guest ranch include our very popular cheetah and leopard drive, a game drive ( 15 different species of game can be seen), a mountain drive, horseback riding ( currently not availabel 7.5.2014, but again later in the year), bird-watching and 4 different walking trails of different lengths. Further more we have a big pool ( 6 x 12 meter) and a information centre.
