Mazambala Island Lodge invites you to: “Come and experience the allure of Mazambala, a place of peace and tranquillity where time stands still.â€
Mazambala is known amongst the local tribes as “Island of Abundanceâ€, and is noted for its teeming wild life, a bird lover’s paradise and its unstinting hospitality and personal attention. The lodge is situated on an island in the Kwando River amid lush tropical vegetation and offers accommodation in 16 traditional reed and thatch en-suite bungalows, with 24-hour electricity. The thatched restaurant, bar and lounge building is on stilts and provides stunning views of the vast flood plain while enjoying excellent meals and ice cold drinks. There is also a 15m long swimming pool.
Visitors can enjoy game drives, river cruises, tiger fishing and nature walks amid unspoilt surroundings. There is also an attractive camp site on the banks of the Kwando River. Campers are welcome to visit the lodge for meals in the restaurant or to participate in any of the activities offered by the lodge.
Mazambala has 16 bungalows including two family units. In addition, several of the double bungalows can accommodate three people. All bungalows have private bathrooms with hot and cold running water. The bungalows are constructed the traditional way with bricks, reeds and thatched roofs. All are equipped with mosquito nets and ceiling fans, and are regularly sprayed with an odourless insecticide against mosquitoes.
Mazambala also has its own attractive camp site on the banks of the Kwando River. The campsite is located a 15 minute boat ride from the main lodge. There are seven large campsites and two ablution blocks with toilets and hot and cold running water for showers.
Firewood is available for purchase at the campsite.
Campers are welcome to enjoy meals in the resturant or to participate in any of the activities offered by the lodge, subject to availability. The campsite staff will assist campers with making reservations at the lodge.
