formation will serve as an advantage; at least three (3) years
lecturing experience at Associate Professor Level; a satisfactory
record of teaching, research, publication and service to the
academic and wider community.
Job Description: Lecture in the areas of Human Geography
(including fieldwork, practicals and excursions); supervise
undergraduate and postgraduate student research; project
and funds acquisition proposal writing; engage in research and
publication activities and provide service to the academic and
wider community, and perform any other duties as may be
required.

VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS DEPARTMENT
VISUAL ARTS SECTION
Lecturer

Requirements: A Master’s degree in Visual Arts with at least three
(3) years lecturing experience; a satisfactory record of teaching,
research, publication and service to the academic and wider
community.
Job description: Lecture any of the following modules; Art for
Advertising, Creative Expression, Ceramics Studies, Fashion
Studies, Textiles Studies, Visual Culture, Visual Articulation and
Drawing, Desktop Publishing, Business for Visual Arts, Teaching and
Research Methods for Visual Arts; assist with supervise; engage
in research and publication activities and provide service to the
academic and wider community, and perform any other duties
as may be required.

School of Military Science
SECURITY AND STRATEGIC STUDIES DEPARTMENT
Associate Professor

Requirements: PhD in International Relation, Security and Strategic
Studies and Public Management with at least three (3) years
lecturing experience at Senior Lecturer level / working experience
in Defence and Security; a satisfactory record of research,
publication and service to the academic and wider community.
Job Description: Lecture at Postgraduate level; supervise student
research; engage in research and publication activities and
provide service to the academic and wider community; develop
teaching materials and perform any other duties as may be
required.
Senior Lecturer
Requirements: PhD in International Relation, Security and

NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE DEPARTMENT
System Administrator

Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT
with three (3) years experience OR a relevant Diploma with four
(4) years experience. A+, N+, MCSE, CCNA, NMware, Network
Security will serve as an advantage. Experience in System
Administration, Network Administration and sound knowledge of
Hardware, Software and Networking. A valid driver’s license is an
added advantage.
Job Description: Administer and maintain server infrastructure,
network infrastructure, storage area network, virtual infrastructure,domain infrastructure,
mail infrastructure, network security,
business continuity, assisting with procuring process and perform
and other duty as may be required.

Estate Services Directorate
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY DEPARTMENT
Assistant Director: Occupational Health and Safety

Five (5) year contract (position available from January 2018)
Requirements:
A Master’s degree in Environmental Health or
Occupational Health with at least five (5) years relevant experience
OR a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or Occupational
Health with at least eight (8) years relevant experience. Three (3)
years should be at a high middle management level. Familiar with
the relevant National Laws. Good management, administrative,
organizational and risk management skills. Registered or
registerable with the Allied Health Professionals Council of
Namibia.
Job description: Maintaining, facilitating and continual improving
safe, healthy and hygienic working, living, researching and study
environment for all UNAM community and continual striving for
the protection of general environment; strategic management
of occupational safety and health (OSH) system; developing
policies and procedures; manage financial and other resources
for the Department; plan and implement departmental strategies;
emergency planning and preparedness; fire prevention and fire
fighting; training and human capital development; accident
/ incident investigation and reporting; monitoring environment

and Environmental Engineering specifically in the area of Hydro-
Engineering (Hydraulic Engineering, Hydrology, Water Resources,
Water Supply, and Wastewater Management) with at least
three (3) years lecturing experience at Senior Lecturer level; a
satisfactory record of research, publication and service to the
academic and wider community; a proven record of sourcing
research funding; must be registered or registerable with the
Engineering Council of Namibia.
Job Description: Lecture modules in the entire field of Hydro-
Engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; supervise
student research at postgraduate level; engage in research
and publication activities and provide service to the academic
and wider community and perform any other duties as may be
required.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Behavioural Science, or
Public Administration, or Student/Youth Development or related

coupled with four (4) years experience.
Job description: Overseeing and provision of support, mentoring,
and advising of student leaders and all its structures; facilitating all
students leaders activities; organising training for student leaders;
ensuring special group (such as students with disabilities, etc.)
involvement in students activities; coordinating peer mentoring;
assisting and participating in orientations and other special
events and activities organised under the auspices of the
Office of the Dean of Students; liaise with relevant external youth

Requirements: A Master’s degree in Epidemiology or Public Heath
with tract specialty in Analytical Epidemiology and Biostatistics,
Diseases surveillance and risk analysis, Randomized Control Trials
(RCT) and Community and Intervention Trials, Infectious Diseases
Modelling, Survival Analysis and Outbreak Investigation with at
least three (3) years lecturing experience; a satisfactory record
of teaching, research, publication and service to the academic
and wider community.
Job description: Contribute to successful design, delivery and
development of curricula with subjects areas. The responsibilities
include developing syllabi, teaching and administering subjects
in the nominated areas (Analytical Epidemiology and Biostatistics,
Diseases surveillance and risk analysis, Randomized Control Trials
(RCT) and Community and Intervention Trials, Infectious Diseases
Modelling, Survival Analysis and Outbreak Investigation) at
Undergraduate levels. Participating and contributing to the
collegial and intellectual life of the Department of Epidemiology
and Biostatistics, the School of Public Health, the Faculty of Health
Sciences, the University at large and the wider community.
The successful candidate is expected to engage in research,
publication and supervision and perform any other duties as may
be required.

Lecturer: Environmental Health
Requirements
: A Master’s degree in Environmental and
Occupational Health and Safety or in Public Heath with tract

with at least three (3) years lecturing experience; a satisfactory
record of teaching, research, publication and service to the
academic and wider community.
Job description: Contribute to successful design, delivery and

the nominated areas (Diagnosis and investigation of Environmental
Health problems and Health Hazards) and toxicology (Physical
hazards, chemical hazards, biological hazards, psychological
hazards), identification and surveillance of Environmental
Health Threats and emergencies, Pollutant source pathways
and Techniques of evaluation of human exposure to chemicals
pollutants or toxicants, Environmental Risk Assessment and Risk
Management, Environmental Impact Assessment and health
risk assessment and at Undergraduate levels. Participating and
contributing to the collegial and intellectual life of the Department
of Environmental and Occupational Health, the School of Public
Health, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the University at large and
the wider community. The successful candidate is expected to
engage in research, publication and supervision and perform any
other duties as may be required.
