Diesel Mechanics
(7x Drills, 2x Trucks, 5x Ancillary)

Location: Husab Mine
Reports to the Team Leader

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To overhaul, repair and maintain diesel equipment
/ machinery at Swakop Uranium (SU) by applying
practice detailed technical knowledge of components
of the diesel trade, according to set standards,
procedures and specifications.

Key Performance Areas:

• Performs ongoing diagnoses, fault-finding and
running inspections on all equipment / machinery
under his jurisdiction.
• Identifies and corrects possible future causes of
failure or breakdown.
• Diagnoses diesel mechanical and/or hydraulic
faults and takes corrective action
• Makes a conscious effort to detect reason for
recurring faults, and takes corrective action where
necessary.
• Completes ongoing inspections conducted on all
work being performed in his section.
• Reports on work orders/requests, possible causes;
estimated life span of components/parts, spares
used, time taken and makes recommendations
and suggestion to improve efficiency.
• Plans for supply of back-up components and
spares for use in his area.
• Repairs workshop equipment / machinery where
necessary to ensure equipment / machinery are in
state of good repair and safe use.
• Complies with Company job safety and good
housekeeping standards/practices at all times.

Requirements and experience:
• Recognized Trade Diploma/Certificate on N3/
L3 level with 4 technical theoretical subjects
or recognized Trade Diploma/Certificate with a
technical Grade 12.
• Post apprenticeship experience: 3 years as a
Diesel Mechanic.
• Must be able to read engineering technical
drawings.
• Sound troubleshooting and fault finding
experience.
• Code B/BE driver’s license

Fitter & Turner
(5x Drills, 2x Trucks, 1x Shovels)

Location: Husab Site
Reports to the Team Leader

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To safely perform skilled maintenance and repair
fitting and turning tasks in accordance with set
standards, procedures and specifications, to achieve
optimum equipment availability and process
efficiency objectives.

Key Performance Areas:
• Maintain all mechanical equipment;
• Machine engineering components as per
specifications;
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Strips, cleans, inspects, calibrates, overhauls,
services, tests, assembles and reinstates all
mechanical components;
• Be able to read drawings and design diagrams;
• Ensures adequate care and correct use of tools
and machinery in the section;
• Provide advice and guidance on the effective repair
and maintenance of equipment and machinery;
• Performs ongoing diagnosis, failure analysis and
recommends corrective measures;
• Plans for adequate supply of materials, spares and
components;
• Assist with the achievement of compliance to all
relevant legislation, agreements, standards, codes
of practice,
Statutory and other specified reporting
requirements.
• Complies with Company job safety and good
housekeeping standards/practices at all times.

Requirements and experience:

• Recognized Trade Diploma/Certificate on N3/
L3 level with 4 technical theoretical subjects
or recognized Trade Diploma/Certificate with a
technical Grade 12.
• 3 years post trade experience.
• Troubleshooting and fault finding experience.
• Sound Fitting and Turning experience.
• Excellent work ethics with a strong emphasis on
safety and quality standards.
• Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.

Shift Electricians
(2x Drills)

Location: Husab Mine
Reports to the Shift Technician

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide electrical maintenance services to the
plant in order to achieve maximum equipment
availability at optimum cost including adherence to
all SSHERQ standards.

Key Performance Areas:

• Perform skilled technical work (mechanical
and electrical) within the parameters of the
trade, according to standard, procedures and
specifications, on all machinery and equipment in
area of responsibility.
• Perform ongoing diagnoses and fault-finding/
running inspections on all equipment and
machinery under his/her jurisdiction.
• Diagnose, maintain, adjust, and repair faults and
overhaul equipment and machinery on site, in
order to maximize the availability of equipment
and machinery, and ensures that the standard is
maintained as per related schedules.
• Ensure quality workmanship and maintenance
improvement within maintenance schedules.
• Liaise with Technicians and Plant Operators.
• Perform repair electrical maintenance and
installations.
• Provide proactive advice and guidance on the
effective repair and maintenance of equipment
and machinery.
• Identify and interpret best practice guidelines,
plans and implements best practices within the
Electrical team.
• Analyze trends and implement continuous
improvements.
• Monitor the application of safety, health and
environmental protection procedures.
• Complies with Company job safety and good
housekeeping standards/practices at all times.

Requirements and experience:
• Recognized Trade Diploma/Certificate on N3/
L3 level with 4 technical theoretical subjects
or recognized Trade Diploma/Certificate with a
technical Grade 12.
• Electrical Trade Certificate.
• 3 years post apprenticeship Electrical experience
in a maintenance environment.
• Experience in planned maintenance and
services.
• Experience reading technical drawings.
• Troubleshooting and fault finding.
• Valid Code B/BE Drivers’ License.

Issuing/Receiving Warehouse Clerk
Location: Husab Mine
Reports to the Materials and Warehouse
Manager

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To receive, check, bin and issue goods for delivery to
end-users on receipt of valid warehouse requisitions
and/or delivery notes.

Key Performance Areas:
• Verifies all items received against delivery
documentation and official requests
• Timely processing of all receipts and/or issues
• Opening and closing of delivered materials as and
when required
• Manage discrepancies through the Receiving and/
or Issuing process through an official Discrepancy
procedure
• Expedite discrepancies to ensure timely close out
• Performs stock counts
• Maintains designated area of the warehouse
• Bin items on the correct location in the warehouse
• Stack and store items inside the warehouse
• Complies with Company job safety and good
housekeeping standards/practices at all times.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 10 a minimum of 24 points over 7 subjects
plus 3 years’ experience in materials planning/
handling/ storage OR
Grade 12 with a minimum of 20 points over 5
subjects plus 1-2 years’ experience in materials
planning/handling/ storage.
• Computer Literacy
• Valid Code B/BE driver’s license.
• Supply Chain / Materials Management Certificate
will be an added advantage.

Catalogue Controller
Location: Husab Site
Reports to the Manager: Materials &
Warehousing

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To control and maintain the warehouse catalogue
at Swakop Uranium (SU) in accordance with
Company and Group specifications, standards,
compliance of related items, end-users and
supplier requirements.

Key Performance Areas:
• Controls and maintains the Warehouse materials
master at SU
• Facilitates, manages and controls all new stock
applications
• Scrutinizes all relevant reports related to the
materials master and promotes standardization of
equipment / spares
• Promotes and assists in the maintenance of a
Hazardous Materials register
• Continuous enhancement of materials master data
• Ensures that all incoming goods, material and
equipment are inspected for compliance with
order specification
• Works closely with all Vendors, Supply Chain staff
and end-users in order to promote and ensure
efficient and cohesive delivery of service
• Safety, Health, Environmental, Radiation & Quality
Effectiveness

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 with an advance certificate in Supply
Chain / Materials Management
• A proven technical background is essential.
• Code B/BE Drivers’ License
• 3 - 5 years’ experience in updating and controlling
of material and equipment catalogues
• Sound knowledge of various products and services
• Sound knowledge in classification and coding of
purchases
• A technical qualification in Engineering (Electrical
or Mechanical) will be a distinct advantage

Assistant Mine Overseer – Load &
Haul

Location: Husab Site
Reports to: Mine Overseer Load & Haul


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To assist in the management of open pit activities
to ensure that shift production and quality targets
are met as well as that all shift production work is
performed safely and with regard to the environment.

Key Performance Areas:

• Supervise the key tasks of a multi-skilled team
of Load & Haul equipment operators within
designated areas of the pit, and ensure that planned
production and quality targets are achieved safely
and in line with the environmental standards.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 with 20 points in 5 subjects and
minimum E symbol in English
• Valid Code B/BE driver’s license
• Minimum 3 years mining experience as a Load &
haul operator.
• At least 1 year at supervisory level in Load & Haul.
• Open Cast Blasting Certificate will be an added
advantage
• Preference will be given to candidates with mining
and/or related tertiary qualifications
