CAREER OPPORTUNITY

A unique career opportunity to a highly talented individual to join
the management team. This role reports to the Chief Financial
Officer and forms an integral member of the management
team and has overall responsibility for the risk and compliance
management function of Santam Namibia Limited.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Overall design, management and embedding of a structured
risk management process in Santam to identify, mitigate,
monitor, report and escalate key strategic, operational and
other risks within the parameters of the Board’s risk appetite.
• Maintaining a technical ERM Framework, Risk Universe,
methodologies, plans, tools policies and procedures for
Santam.
• Responsible for the development, maintenance, implementation
and embedding of effective compliance management
processes, controls and systems within Santam.
• Management and co-ordination of the business continuity
strategy, framework and plans (including crisis management
plans) in order to ensure that Santam can recover from a
disaster.
• Preparing reports to Executive Management and the Board
Audit & Risk Committee, including the alignment of risk
reporting across the Group
• Responsible for the AML function within Santam.
• Advise Executive Management on the applicable laws,
regulations, rules and standards; and inform them about any
development in these areas.
• Management and tracking of remediation of control
weaknesses identified by Internal Audit, self-testing, or
controls assessment.
• Responsible for the Company Secretarial function.
• Act as a central point of contact for all information on risk,
compliance and AML-related issues.
• Policy (internal, compliance and risk) and procedure
maintenance.
• Providing commercial support/ input to the Namibian
leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• LLB, BComm Law, or Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management.
• Courses or diploma completed in terms of business continuity
management/planning/ crisis management
• 2 – 3 years’ experience in the short-term insurance industry.

KNOWLEDGE

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of legislation affecting
the financial services industry, specifically short-term
insurance.
• Strong presentation and facilitation Skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
• Excellent relationship-building skills at all levels of
management
• Good communication & writing skills in English
